When life gets busy, stressful or changes direction, it can be challenging to maintain all of your good intentions. Nutrition and fitness can be the first to go out of the window, which is actually the last thing that you need as your body could really do with being looked after when you are at your lowest. That is why today we want to share with you 5 ways to stick to your healthy lifestyle, to keep you on track when the going gets tough.
Change your mindset
We have quite deliberately used the term ‘healthy lifestyle’, rather than health kick or similar, as this is not a fad. This should not be a short term effort to lose a few pounds or to run that extra mile.
Change your mindset so that you are working on developing a healthy lifestyle for the long term. You want to get habits in place that you are comfortable sticking with as you know that they are manageable and you know that you feel better for them.
Get plenty of rest
Sleep is crucial to your overall wellbeing, with lack of sleep affecting both your physical and mental health. You need to prioritise getting plenty of rest, however busy you are.
Sleep is often the corner that we cut when we have too much going. Staying up an hour or two later to complete everything that you need to might seem like a good idea at the time, but do that for more than a couple of nights and it will soon take its toll.
Commit to a few early nights and you should regain that energy to get out and exercise again and enjoy your free time.
Look out for the latest products
Whether you want that new to the market yoga mat, a Pax 3 vaporizer or a brand new health supplement, it is worth keeping up with new developments and looking out for the latest products.
A new product can give you a lift and can get you motivated to use it. It can help you to get back on track with those good intentions.
Focus on your diet
We are not suggesting that you should ‘diet’, simply that it can be worth focusing on your diet. We can slip into bad habits, grabbing food on the go, snacking throughout the day or eating convenience food. Make an effort to notice what you are choosing to eat.
You will be amazed by how much better you will feel, and even lose a little weight, just by doing simple things like watching your portion size, throwing out the unhealthy foods and increasing your protein intake. As well as feeling healthier with the right nutrition, it should give you the energy to enjoy exercising again.
Make plans with friends
As soon as you rope your friends into your fitness classes, sports or they join the same gym as you, you are well on your way to sticking to your healthy lifestyle.
Along with the buzz that you will get from exercising, you will look forward to the social side just as much.
You might discover a new sport or hobby together or perhaps meeting to walk the dog in the park once a week means that you get to see each other more often. Collaboration.
