Vitality is something most of us are trying to achieve through the day. Busy people, including the stay at home mums, school kids, teenagers and the busy working woman, vitality is increasingly something we are craving. Meetings, deadlines, negotiations and other work commitments can frazzle some and make others thrive. I hope these tips help you succeed with vitality and productivity. Enjoy small amounts of good quality protein throughout the day. I find as a health copywriter it regulates your blood sugar levels, keeps hunger at bay, prevents sugar cravings, improves your sleep, and help avoid the mid-afternoon energy slump.
Hydrate Your Body
Keep a big glass bottle of filtered water on your desk. Adequate hydration is essential for right concentration at work. Don’t wait until you are thirsty because by then you are already dehydrated. Drinking plenty of water with a few slices of lemon and ginger may help flush out toxins, improve flexibility, boost circulation and concentration. Ensure you drink enough for your body weight. In my Kickstart Your Health ebook I share how much you need depending on your body weight.
If you are like me and love a daily coffee, try switching your big latte to a smaller piccolo or an espresso in the morning, and then switch to green tea. A 300ml coffee with milk is a huge 164 calls. Drinking too much caffeine may deplete our adrenals which can be exhausting. Instant coffee is off the menu.
Take A Lunch Break
Eat your lunch slowly and away from your desk. If we disengage from our work for as little as five minutes, our productivity skyrockets later in the day. Treat yourself with a walk outside.
Fall In Love With Yoga
Get on your yoga mat for a few sun salutations. Yoga helps with stress release and allows your body to do what it loves doing, moving! By my desk, I have my yoga mat, trainers and treadmill. I'll do any jobs, like reviewing promotions, checking social media, replying to comments or brainstorming an idea while I'm walking on my treadmill. Our body is not designed to spend long periods in one position.
I love alternating my office chair with my Swiss Ball and flicking my desk into a standup desk regularly throughout the day. Lots of little yoga moves at the desk are lovely for releasing tension in the shoulders as is breathing deeply. Don't forget to breathe deeply from your diaphragm regularly throughout the day, especially if you are busy. I know it's a tricky one but an elegant trick to help keep you cool and forced on your work.
Drop The Superwomen Thing
Continually prioritise your responsibilities. As a smart entrepreneur you are always pushing the boundaries and trying to keep up to date with the latest business must have. Ask yourself ‘is that business tool essential for my business' and 'do I need to check and respond to all of the emails in my inbox straight away’ I love my lists to clear my mind. No-one can be all things to all people, and no-one is perfect. But you are beautifully unique, find a way that works well for you. Maybe you might like to offload some of your workload and delegate creating content for your blog, website or latest email to me. I can generate some word magic for you.
