I hope these travelling tips help your next flight be more comfortable and enjoyable. I as a freelance creative copywriter love flying and travelling. All the different people, cultures, colours, tastes and places to create lifelong memories. There’s an art to feeling and looking your best when travelling. Travelling can be exhausting. Dry air on the plane, crappy food and lack of movement makes it challenging to look and feel our best while travelling.
Drink heaps of green smoothies, green tea + detox tea to boost your body with antioxidants.
Hydrate your body inside and out by drinking heaps of water and nourishing your skin with a serum and cream. I also take my favourite Antipodes - Protein-Rich Night Replenish Serum on the plane to keep my skin hydrated.
Digestive enzymes + probiotics to keep your digestion working well.
Supergreens to supercharge your body with alkalizing energy and antioxidants.
Support your body with adaptogen herbs to help reduce and resist the effects of stress.
On The Plane
Move as often as possible to promote circulation. Loose-fitting, comfortable clothes. I love taking my cashmere scarf and comfy socks so I feel homely and cosy.
Dab essential lavender oil on your temples and wrists to help relax during the flight.
Yoga, especially inversions and deep diaphragm breathing. Inversions help reverse the flow of gravity, stimulate the lymphatic system, and aid in blood purification. Invert a few times before, during and after travelling. Don't be embarrassed about cracking into a handstand at the airport. Sting does inversions the whole time when flying. Try legs propped against the wall, shoulder stand, headstand, or handstand.
Light meals. Fasting is a great idea, but it’s slightly too extreme for me on my family holiday.
Drink as much water as possible. I love one glass of wine as a celebration of actually being on a flight back home to see my family. When I'm flying out of UK, I need a glass of wine to cope with the emotional pain of saying goodbye. Try to limit alcohol.
After The Flight
Yoga. More inversions, twisting poses and diaphragm breathing. Great for stress relief and grounding.
Walk or go for a jog to work up a sweat. Moving your body helps with water retention, jump-starts metabolism, stimulates the lymphatic system and gets the blood circulating.
Take a hot Epsom salts bath with a few drops of essential oil. Or jump in the shower and alternate between short 10 second hot/cold water intervals. This stimulates the lymphatic system, detoxes the body, and helps combat water retention that may occur after travelling.
